Glossary

Assistive listening devices allow the hearing impaired to hear the presenter's amplified voice via a device available from Disabled Student Services.

In classrooms with an installed sound system, an audio connection allows audio cassette players or audio CD players to be connected to it.

Banked lighting has separate controls for different sections of lights. For instance, you might be able to turn off the lights at the front of the room to improve the visibility of a projected image while leaving other sections on so that students can take notes.

In a classroom with a video/data projector, a laptop connection or interface allows a computer to be connected to the projector.

A public address system amplifies a presenter's voice by means of a microphone connected to the sound system.

Campus cable TV refers to the television channels available on the IUPUI campus. If only a campus cable TV jack is present, then a television, VCR, and coaxial cable must be ordered for delivery. If campus cable TV reception is present, then equipment is available in the room for television reception. In some cases when reception is available, the cable to connect the TV to the cable TV jack must be ordered. This is noted when applicable.

In classrooms with an installed video/data projector, a video connection allows users to connect additional video devices (such as laserdisc players or multistandard videocassette players) to the projector.

Video origination capability means that the room is equipped for video conferencing.

Rooms without an active network connection. [List to be added.]
